Fall Festivals in Central Iowa 2015

Below is a GIANT list of Fall Festivals  happening around Central Iowa. Please let me know if you have a fun festival to add!

September

Pufferbilly Days 

September 10th – 13th 

This four-day community festival fills the streets with tons of awesome events and entertainment, and this year is making plans to celebrate Boone’s 150th Sesquicentennial. Kids games, carnival, fireworks show, pie eating contests, and much more!

Eat, Art, Activate!

September 17th 

4:30 pm – 6:30 pm

A fun-with-planning open house for the Clive Greenbelt Master Plan. Brief Program featuring High Trestle Trail Artist David Dahlquist at 5:30 p.m. Join the Mayor and other city leaders at the Clive Special Events Building and lawn to help kick-off Clive’s Activate the Greenbelt campaign. We need your input and ideas in these early stages of the Clive Greenbelt Master Plan development and we have fun for everyone! Join us for:
• Food Trucks – healthy and not so much
• Nature Art for All Ages (featuring found Greenbelt “objects”)
• Your Big Idea for the Clive Greenbelt (Draw it, talk it it, or write-it-down)
• Design Your Own Greenbelt – a mapping game
• Give the City Feedback – on ideas thus far

Apple Festival at Penoach Winery 

September 19th 

10 am  – 5 pm

Horse and wagon rides, face painting and kids entertainment, 12 plus vendors featuring a variety of crafts, food, and produce, including Dallas County Orchard, Picket Fence Creamery. Food from Brewer Family Farms. Free wine samples. Hot apple wine by the cup. Music by Code Blue, 1-5 pm.

Beaverdale Fall Festival

September 18th & 19th 

Holy Trinity Church had been hosting an annual event each September featuring a raffle, carnival rides, food, talent show, beer tent and a road run. During the 1980s, the Beaverdale merchants and Holy Trinity decided to combine their efforts, leading to an expanded, single weekend of neighborhood fun. The parade became a joint effort of the two groups and served as a rallying point, as they began to unify their resources, advertising and planning efforts. Carnival, parade, games, horse rides, live music, food, drink and much more!

Apple & Pumpkin Fest at Will’s Family Orchard

Saturday September 19th (9 – 6 pm) & Sunday September 20th (Noon – 6pm)

Saturday September 26th (9 – 6pm) & Sunday September 27th (Noon – 6pm)

Our Apple & Pumpkin Fest is the name we give to our annual fall harvest celebration. Our farm provides a great place to enjoy Iowa outdoors with family and friends. You can pick pumpkins, go through our corn maze, take a hay wagon ride, check out the barnyard, and enjoy some fresh cider donuts and other great food products. There’s so much more!

World Food & Music Festival 

September 18th – 20th 

The 2015 Festival will feature Cuisine from Around the World!
Live Entertainment – Cooking Demonstrations. $1 tastes/all entrees $5 or less! Saturday Fireworks. Free to attend

Zooktoberfest at Blank Park Zoo

Thursday, September 24th 

5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Fertig machen! Zoo Brew is back with an Oktoberfest twist! Be part of Zooktoberfest – a mash-up of the popular Zoo Brew and the ever famous Oktoberfest! Come out and enjoy live music by Malek’s Fishermen Band. Zooktoberfest will feature Oktoberfest-style food, pretzel necklaces and the best seasonal beers. Join us for this 21 & over event you do not want to miss! Zooktoberfest is free for Zoo members and $8 for non-members. Unused 2015 Zoo Brew Groupons are also valid for this event. The first 750 people will receive a Zooktoberfest limited edition koozie!

Des Moines Oktoberfest!

September 25th & 26th 

GA tickets will be $10/night at the door. Includes commemorative Oktoberfest mug. Bring it back Saturday for $5 admission! RAIN OR SHINE. Plenty of tented bier gardens! Live music, beer, and lots of fun!

Herfst Feest {Harvest Fest}

September 25th & 26th 

Celebrate all the things fall at Herfst Feest {Harvest Fest} on September 25-26, 2015 in downtown Pella! Enjoy Bacon Fest, wine walk, live music, great works of art at Art in the Park, 5K Color Blast Run, shopping, home brew sampling, salsa and baking contests, artisan demonstrations at the Historical Village as well as great activities for children.

Illumifest at WDM City School Campus

Saturday, September 26th 

4 pm – 7 pm

A Fall Festival of Light, offers a variety of activities and events for people of all ages! The inflatables and games will open Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm and run throughout the evening, as well as a wide variety of food stands. The “Royal Promenade” around the Pond, featuring Royal characters from Little Princess Parties, takes place from 5:00-7:00 pm. Join us for this family friendly event that has made this festival the fastest growing community event in West Des Monies. Royal Promenade $10. Register by 9/11 for Royal Promenade.

October 

Johnston Fall Festival

Saturday, October 10th

3 pm – 5 pm

FREE festival for children up to third grade in the Horizon Cafeteria/Gym. Games, cookies, storytelling, and special treats provided by Johnston Community Education. You may come in costume.

Covered Bridge Festival in Madison County 

October 10th & 11th

9 am – 5 pm

46th annual Madison County Bridge Festival! Help celebrate the bridges. Crafts, foods, activities, entertainment, antiques, and guided tours of the famous covered bridges! This festival is for everyone!

Deal’s Orchard Fall Festival 

October 10th & 11th 

10 am – 6 pm

Live entertainment, apple pies and dumplings, corn pit, animals, jumping pillow, horse-drawn hayrides, pumpkin patch, paint pumpkins, spin art, giant slides, and so much more! All prices listed here!

Fall Frenzy

Sunday, October 11th

1 pm – 3 pm

Bring your family for a day of fall fun! Come explore Walker Johnston Park and all the amenities it has to offer. We will have a scavenger hunt, outdoor games, crafts, and live critters. This event is hosted by Polk County Conservation, UCANN, and Urbandale Parks and Recreation.

Pumpkin Fest at Center Grove Orchard

October 17th & 18th

Enjoy a weekend on the farm themed around everything pumpkins! Join us for non-stop fun with plenty of family-friendly activities that everyone will enjoy! Entertainment for the weekend includes: Magic shows, face painting, music from “Four Mile Creek Band,” balloon art, and dog shows! Snow White and the Pumpkin Princess will be making an appearance in Storybook Land for pictures and autographs!
