Des Moines Parent FXB Challenge: Week Five

Half way there! Week five testing was done Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I have approved in just 5-weeks.

I was super nervous for Saturday morning. I had felt some changes, but I wasn’t really sure how well my testing would go and I didn’t want to be disappointed. Here is a breakdown of my 5-week results!

Measurements: I lost a couple of inches in my thighs, hips and arms. Nothing drastic, but I was happy to see there were some changes!

Mile Run: Whoa! I cut 2 minutes and 1 second off my mile run! I was ecstatic as I ran across that finish line. While running, I didn’t feel like I was going much faster, but did notice I took fewer breaks to walk.

Push-Ups: I increased my push-ups by 18!

Sit-Ups: I increased my sit-ups by 8. I hate sit-ups, but I can definitely feel that my core is becoming stronger every day.

Sit & Reach: Flexibility has never been my thing. I increased my sit & reach by 1/2.

Weight: This is the one question everyone has been asking me the past few days, “how much have you lost?!” Well, I haven’t lost anything. I weighed myself before my run Saturday morning and the scale was the same. At first, I was a little surprised, because I have been feeling so much better. I have had less bloating, I can even fit into some pants I haven’t been able to wear in awhile. This is just an example that weight is just a number.

As you can see from all my other results above, I have been drastically increasing my endurance and strength. I am losing inches. I have so much more energy and feel great overall. Nicole Hill, owner of FXB Grimes, gave a very inspirational talk after our testing on Saturday. It was a great reminder, that we are not going to 100% change in 5-weeks or 10-weeks for that matter. It did not take 5-weeks to get us to the way we were before we joined FXB. It’s important for us to keep pushing ourselves, because we ARE seeing small changes. It may be hard now, but in time the way we eat, the workouts we do will become habits.

Right now, I am happy with the improvements I have seen thus far. I have set some new goals for myself and am excited to kick it into high gear for the final 5-weeks!
